An Update from The Executive Director

HI!!!!!!!

Holy moly it’s certainly been a summer, hasn’t it?

How are you holding up?

This year has been a lot. For everyone. We, however, consider ourselves pretty lucky. We were able to transition entirely online very quickly which meant that we could still pay all of our employees (15 total through the summer) and fulfill all of our programmatic responsibilities. We transitioned our summer college mentorship program for underrepresented creators entirely online, which certainly meant a bit of overtime, but led to our strongest Summer yet:

  • Completing our first paid contracting gig: porting the PanicMechanic app from Android to iOs for Allostatech, a local Vermont company.

  • Executing our first ever online Rad Studio: with 15 students from 5 different colleges, a ramped-up commitment to mentorship, and a brand new social justice curriculum.

  • Working with the Make a Wish Foundation of Vermont to make Mika Millard’s dream of making a video game come true with The Cocoknight! (Click here to play!)

  • Holding our annual party completely over Zoom and it was actually completely fun. (A few pats on the back over here)

The Fall is our “quiet” time, our time of catching up after a nonstop summer and beginning work on our next season. Megan and I are diving deep into research on a method of teaching that has been proven to increase empathy and allyship among a student cohort. We can’t wait to use it to evolve Rad Studio’s curriculum next year.

We kicked off our annual fundraising campaign this week - and we're already almost halfway to our goal of $5000! Did you know that 75% of our yearly funding comes from donors like you? Your donations are what allow us to keep the tuition price of Rad Studio accessible to every student that craves that community. It sponsors us to create custom internship programs for students who need the experience and the support. It allows us to do the behind the scenes work at the company to create a rock solid foundation for future success.

Will you give today and help us in our fight to dismantle the patriarchy through the radical empowerment of underrepresented people? For only two more days, all donations over $100 get this limited edition print created by our one and only Megan McAvoy!

Only available until Sunday October 25!

Thanks for reading & thanks for being the only you on this big blue planet.
